welcome to the energy consortium

Provider of Energy Solutions

Established in 1994, The Energy Consortium (TEC) is now regarded as one of the country’s leading proponents and providers of collaborative energy procurement in the public sector, particularly to universities and colleges.

It is a full member of the Cabinet Office Collaborative Procurement’ programme, as well as other purchasing bodies and is committed to sharing best practice and cost saving advice in energy to a broad spectrum of public sector organisations.

Securing value for money and reducing costs are the main priorities across the entire UK public sector, and the Cabinet Office’s Efficiency and Reform Group sits at the centre of these initiatives. TEC Board Members contribute advice to such initiatives and play an active role in helping shape central government’s strategy and best practice in collaborative procurement.

TEC has over 180 Members and manages an annual energy contract worth over £160M. For years it operated exclusively in higher and further education (HE/FE) but, in recent years, has welcomed Members from the wider public sector.

As a not-for-profit body, TEC offers far greater transparency and accountability in its dealings, and policy decisions are made with the interests of the Membership as a key priority. TEC’s experienced team of energy experts are focused on not just promoting the cost saving benefits of flexible contracts but also adding value to Members.
